Schools cover the basics now. Here is what they don't.

Bellevue and most neighboring districts now provide required classroom supplies. That is good news, and it means your box goes further when it covers what schools do not. Everything collected goes to the schools with the highest need, PreK through high school.

Bring anything new and unwrapped to the registration table on Sunday, August 23. It is the first thing you will see when you arrive, so you can hand off your box and go straight into the evening.

Always needed

Adaptive & sensory

These are needed every year and almost never donated.Noise-reducing ear defenders, fidget tools, chew necklaces, weighted lap pads and vests, wobble cushions, pencil grips, loop and adaptive scissors, slant boards, visual timers, raised-line and highlighted paper, calming-corner items.

Out of their own pocket

What teachers buy

Tissues, disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, dry-erase markers, cardstock and construction paper, gallon and sandwich bags, glue sticks, prize-box items, floor cushions and flexible seating.

Easiest to give

Gift cards

Gift cards are the simplest gift to manage and the most flexible, and they cover classroom snacks and the things that come up mid-year. Target, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Costco and Amazon all work. Any amount helps.

Not sure what to grab? A backpack, a box of tissues, and a twenty-dollar gift card is a perfect box.
